A slimmed development of the micron and micron 2000 de Luxe - the introduction of a sleeve construction provided for more efficient vertical assembly, as opposed to earlier clam shell methods. This also allows the outlet to be positioned for the first time in the centre of the base. With 20 million units sold, the vario 3 was Braun's most successful model.
